Public board sets new school year Parents who need their children's schedules to plan for the upcoming year can now do so as the Halton District School Board has revealed the school year calendar. School will begin the day after Labour Day, on Tuesday, Sept. 7, and will end on June 30. In order to accommodate the required amount of professional activity (PA) days into the school year, teachers will have their first on Thursday, Sept. 2, before Labour Day. The Christmas Break will run from Dec. 20-31 with students returning to class on Monday, Jan. 3. March Break will be held from March 14-18. The following is a list of the PA days: Oct. 8, Nov. 12, Jan. 31 and April 8. In June, elementary and secondary schools will have separate PA days -- Friday, June 10, designated for elementary teachers and Thursday, June 30 will be for secondary teachers.
