www.oakvillebeaver.com · OAKVILLE BEAVER Thursday, April 15, 2010 · 34 Imagining a world without friendship is tough n By Nadia Othman GRADE 7, HERITAGE GLEN P.S. friend is very important. A true friend is one that knows you as you are, understands where you have been, accepts what you have become and still allows you to grow. Friends give you advice if you've got a problem, they'll talk A with you and you can be whatever you want around them, and you can be yourself. The most important thing in a friendship is being able to be yourself around that person and being able to express yourself. A friend also knows who you are; forgives you for your mistakes, and knows that you will forgive them for their mistakes. They should respect the choices you make and support you along the way, as you would do for them. When you think a friend is making a bad decision then try to make them see what they are putting themselves into and how it's going to affect them later in life. A friend helps you along the way if you don't quite understand "7 Years In a Row" Since 1982 WE DISPOSE OF IT! Oakville's #1 Choice 12 Years in a Row We Specialize In High Efficiency Windows, Patio & Front Entry Doors & Shutters something. They will depend on you and open up to you because they know that you're loyal and trustworthy. You can share great memories with friends and laugh at them later. Friends are there when you need them and always know what will cheer you up. You're not lonely when you're with friends, you can relax and laugh and goof around them. Without friends, there's no one you can tell "last night's episode" on a show, or you can't open up and share what you feel on the inside. Friends can disappoint you sometimes, but you never know what might be going on and you have to sit back and understand. Try to get them to open up and then laugh at being so paranoid. Sometimes, you never know who your real friends are. You might spend four or five years with what you thought was your best friend then all the sudden you have a new friend and things change. If your friend stands up to you and says that they don't like the way they are being don't deny it or argue about it, try to find different ways to solve it and accept what they have to say. When you keep ignoring them and they walk away, you're the loser, not them. Your friends are there to cheer you up, and so you've got to support them and cheer them up, that's what friends are for. Friends make good choices and don't try to hurt or upset you. A real friend doesn't hurt your feelings or say mean stuff to you, if they do, they're not your friend; maybe they're a frienemy. Friends need to be true, understanding, loyal, trustworthy, happy, funny, you know, BFFL (best friends for life). OAKVILLE (905) 849-7800 MISSISSAUGA (905) 278-4900 1200 Vanier Dr., Unit #10, Mississauga www.supremewindows.com Tickets now on sale to second annual Cuvée The second annual Oakville Cuvée is Saturday, May 1 as the May Court Club of Oakville fundraises for local children's charities. Michael `Pinball' Clemons will be the auctioneer for the Cause within a Cause whose proceeds will go to Halton Wellspring programs for children living with cancer. The success of last year's inaugural Oakville Cuvée has led to this second edition to be held at the Mercedes-Benz Oakville Autohaus, the official May Court Club sponsor located at 300 South Service Rd. The number of Cuvée culinary and vintage participants is up 30 per cent from last year. Twenty local chefs will pair their food with the finest VQA wines from 13 of Ontario's wineries. The May Court Club of Oakville has a mandate to help local children's charities in Oakville and Burlington. This year, a chief beneficiary of the Cuvée funding will be Wellspring's Programs for Children Living with Cancer. The Halton Wellspring at 2545 Sixth Line Oakville has been offering support to people living with cancer for almost 10 years. One of the Wellspring programs targeted for Oakville Cuvée funds provides emergency psychological counselling for both parents and children. As well as the counselling, a volunteer team organizes three or four pediatric oncology parties annually at Wellspring where children, siblings and parents set aside troubles for a day and just have fun. The goal of this year's May Court Club Oakville Cuvée is to support these children's programs at Halton Wellspring, which costs approximately $43,000 annually, as well as other children's charities in our community. Tickets cost $75 per person and are available by calling 905-905257-2633 or 905-842-5403, or visit website www.maycourt.ca. You can see the difference our pictures speak for us!
