His parents, Danuta and Leopold, predeceased him. John leaves behind his devoted wife Paula and his children that he was so proud of: Vanessa / James Poulton and Dr. Jordan Zacny / Dr. Alia Mukhida. He was called "BIGG GUY" by his children for his generous spirit and big heart. The apple of his eye and what could always bring a smile to his face were his two granddaughters: Tessa Robin and Tia Berrie Poulton. John was very proud of his Polish Heritage, and was often known as "The Polish Prince" in the workplace - Ontario Hydro (OPG). He started at Hydro in 1966 at the Hearn GS and moved to Lakeview GS in 1974. Some of his fondest memories are of his "Lab Buddies" and all the great times and terrific stories and jokes. John retired in 2005. In 2007, John was the recipient of the Gift of Life and had a double lung transplant. He was in chronic rejection at the time of his death. John gave a valiant fight to stay with his family as long as he could. He is now at peace and struggle free. During that time, he had the support of his family and his warm friendships. Many thanks to the Rick McClelland Family, Edward Krupica Family and the John Arnold Family. The Zacny Family would like to thank the Lung Transplant Team at Toronto General Hospital, and the ICU Team at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital. Many thanks to his family physician, Dr. John Denby, for all his care. As per John's wishes, a private family cremation has taken place and he requests no service.
