Oakville won the championship of the 36-team league Friday with a 5-1 drubbing of the Belleville Bearcats in Oshawa. In their previous game, the Hornets survived a gametying goal by the Saugeen-Maitland Lightning with six seconds left in regulation to prevail in a shootout. Ally Chartrand stopped all Lightning attempts in the shootout and Claire Merrick scored the winner for the Hornets.
