More than 100 students from the University of Toronto's Faculty of Dentistry and 50 George Brown Dental hygiene students dedicated their day to educating people with special needs about dental care and participating in smile-inducing activities. Community Living Oakville partnered with Oral Health, Total Health (www.ohth.ca) to advocate, educate and improve oral health care for those with special needs. Sharing Smiles Day is a cornerstone of the program as it brings together those with special needs and oral health care professionals (students & dentists) for a funfilled morning of activities, followed by a luncheon and dental demonstrations. Register online for Play for the Cause On Saturday, May 8 the fourth annual Play For The Cause hockey tournament will once again be taking place to benefit the Canadian Cancer Society. Over the last three years, the tournament has raised nearly $84,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society. It's hoped this year's edition -- being organized by Mike Enns, Greg Schmidt, Jeff Brown, Mark Murray, Sara White and Paul McKinlay -- will achieve the $100,000 mark. Play For The Cause will see 150 hockey players take part in the event. Games will take place at Oakville's Ice Sports and will begin at 4 p.m. There will be five games in total, including a brand new women's game to kick off the event at 4 p.m. The event also features giveaways, a special Play For The Cause menu at the arena's Thirsty Penguin Bar and live music for a portion of the night. To play, participants are asked to raise a minimum of $100. Players can register and collect donations online at http://convio.cancer.ca/goto/p4tc.
