Sport Oakville handing out grants Sport Oakville is accepting applications for Sport Development Grant funds until 4:30 p.m. tomorrow (Friday). The Sport Development Grant funds are available to eligible not-for-profit sport organizations that are currently members of Sport Oakville in order "to provide assistance to minor sports groups for the betterment of sport and their organization, by providing specialized funding for specific initiatives, projects and/or programs." More than $165,000 in sport development grants have been distributed to Oakville sport groups since 2002. "We encourage sport groups to take advantage of this funding that will assist in them in such areas as coaching development and training, the development of new programs or the enhancement or expansion of existing programs," said Sport Oakville president David Haslam. Funding to any one organization is for one year, up to a maximum of $3,000.
