The Winter Warmth program is designed for low-income families and individuals living in Oakville who have Oakville Hydro and/or Union Gas accounts and are having difficulty paying the bill. The program provides financial support by working with the utility regarding bill payment. There are a number of eligibility requirements for each utility. For Oakville Hydro, the family or individual must already be disconnected from service. For Union Gas, the family or individual must be in arrears with the threat of disconnection. The family or individual must also show that they are in financial need. There is a maximum payout of $450 per family, per winter, per utility. The program runs until May 31, 2010 (Oakville Hydro) and June 30, 2010 (Union Gas), or until all funds are spent.
