(Oakville Hydro) is a local electricity distribution company in Ontario and is responsible for electrical power delivery to homes and businesses in the Town of Oakville. Oakville Hydro is proposing to build a new transformer station to increase the supply of electricity to the Oakville Hydro service territory. The proposed station will step-down electricity from Hydro One's 230kV high voltage transmission system to lower voltages, so that it can be distributed through Oakville Hydro's electrical system to consumers. The new station is required by spring 2011 to maintain reliable supply and anticipated growth to the Oakville Hydro service area. The project study area encompasses the Town of Oakville and Town of Milton, north of the 407 and south of Lower Base Line Road, where existing 230kV transmission corridors are present for potential connection. Oakville Hydro has proposed a site off of 6th Line Road (see map). The project is being undertaken in accordance with the Class Environmental Assessment for Minor Transmission Facilities (Class EA) process approved under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. fO It is the goal of Oakville Hydro to resolve all comments submitted. In the event stakeholder comments or questions are not resolved by Oakville Hydro within the 30-day period, the stakeholder can submit a written request to the Minister of the Environment to "bump-up" the project to an individual environmental assessment in accordance with Part II of the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. "Bumpup" requests must be received by the Honourable John Gerretsen, Minister of the Environment at 135 St. Clair Avenue West Toronto, ON M4V 1P5 in writing, no later than 5:00pm on April 5, 2010. A copy of the request must also be sent to IBI Group at the address noted below. The fourth annual Sydney Clark fundraiser for the hospital titled "Do You Believe in Magic?" takes place on Saturday, March 27. In the past three years, the event has raised more than $100,000 for the critical care unit at the hospital. The event will feature cocktails, dinner, live music, a silent and live auction and more.
