A meeting for volunteers will be held Thursday, March 4 from 7-8:30 p.m. by the Oakville Community Centre for Peace, Ecology and Human Rights (OCCPEHR). The two environmental projects are two of OCCPEHR's highest profile events of the year. The meeting for volunteers will take place in the program room on the second floor of the Central Public Library, at the corner of Lakeshore Road and Navy Street. The 10th annual Halton Eco Festival will take place on Saturday, April 17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday, April 18 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Glen Abbey Rec Centre on Third Line in Oakville. The Halton Eco Festival features 80 green exhibitors, 18 educational workshops, a supervised kid's eco fun area, and a silent auction. For more, visit www.haltonecofest.ca. The annual Earth Week Clean Up will take place Saturday, April 24 from 9 a.m.- noon and will occur at 30 designed natures sites or in local neighbourhoods. For Erik FAMILY AFFAIR: Lian Lo and her brother Victor kick in memory of their brother Erik -- who died of acute myelogenous leukemia -- at the fourth annual Kick-a-Thon at Oakville Taekwondo Academy on Kerr Street Saturday. The annual event was organized to raise funds for Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children. Students of Oakville Taekwondo and the Los kicked for one hour to raise money for the SickKids Foundation. The Kickathon has raised more than $6,000 over the past few years with all proceeds going to the Hospital for Sick Children. Last year, students at the academy shattered their previous record of 4,996 kicks in an afternoon with an astounding 19,542 kicks and raised $2,320. The academy hopes to raise $2,500 this year.
