E. The venue was chosen because it has borne witness to a unique piece of Oakville's history, serving as a municipal office from 1913 to 1957. What is now the second floor of the restaurant had been the council chamber/court room where many an interesting case had been presided over. "There was a Ku Klux Klan cross burning in Oakville in the 1930s (to protest an interracial marriage) and those who did it were prosecuted here in this room," said Barrett, chair of Heritage Oakville.
