Joking aside, Lubert said he was excited to work from the new office. The wrinkles and moving pains have already occurred as the staff moved in just before Christmas. While the new amalgamated unit now boasts eight staff, three of them were already sharing time between the two offices. Now they're saving gas and time. According to Burns, the transportation service of the units had already been merged for more than a year. Burns explained the changes are all about serving the patients, the public and channelling the most money to client services and cancer research. "We will be offering the same services and doing the same fundraisers, in all three communities." Sharon Burns, manager Canadian Cancer Society The amalgamation was made official as the leases expired at both unit offices at the end of last year, making the timing right to realize cost efficiencies on administration. It will take place from 24 p.m. in the second-floor auditorium of the Oakville Central Library located at Lakeshore Road and Navy Street. The event is hosted by the Oakville Community Centre for Peace, Ecology and Human Rights (OCCPEHR). It will feature OCCPEHR Chair Mervyn Russell. Angela Bischoff will also speak at the concert about ecological issues. Bischoff is the founder of Greenspiration and outreach director of the Ontario Clean Air Alliance. David Peck will also be present. He is founder and executive director of Sochange. Music at the concert will be provided by SINVA, a musical band whose initials stand for Studies in Non-Violent Action. Concert attendees will be inspired and positively provoked by the lyrics and energetic performance of Steve Hall and Guy Fogel, according to OCCPEHR executive director Stephen Dankowich. SINVA, formerly The Rainbow Warriors, was founded by Hall in the 1980s and has performed at several of OCCPEHR's peace concerts. Admission to the concert is $10 at the door, $5 for students.
