Beginner synchro skaters enjoying early Edge Oakville Edge's Beginner synchro team couldn't be off to a more promising start. In the first-ever competition for the Beginner division in Ontario, the Edge team earned gold at the SixO Synchro Skate Competition in Whitby earlier this month. "The team dazzled the crowd with their performance," said team coach Pauline Caballero. "Skating to The Supremes, this team has worked extremely hard both on and off the ice. They are excited to be the firstever gold medalists in the newest category in synchronized skating. The enitre coaching staff is extremely proud of the Beginner team." Members of the team are Dawn Lazazzera, Lauren Collett, Arissa Derakhshan, Emma Rogers, Nicole Goverde, Madison Shaw, Olivia Xie, Tegan Orr, Sarah Hayman, Claire Bonnell, Jaime Dalby, Teja Garrido, Michelle Shi, Jesse Dalby, Emilie Swales and Jeannie Lam. The Edge's Elementary team, also competing in Whitby for the first time this season, finished fifth in its division. Oakville Edge's four synchro teams (Beginner, Elementary, Juvenile and Novice) all competed in the Cupids Capers competition last weekend in Newmarket. Grant MacIntosh was also part of the Edge team that finished in the top eight of the tournament, a competition known as the premier lacrosse club tournament in North America and featured 26 of the top elite high school club teams from across the continent.
