Tickets on sale for Hall of Fame dinner Tickets are now on sale for the Oakville Sports Hall of Fame's seventh Gala Induction Dinner, scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 11 at the Oakville Conference and Banquet Centre. This year's athlete inductees are former Toronto Maple Leafs forward Tom Fergus and three-time Olympic swimmer Andrew Hurd. Going in as builders will be Dick Grimm (golf), John Gilbert (badminton), Bob MacKinnon (hockey) and Mark O'Donnell (speed skating). Since its inception 10 years ago, the Oakville Sports Hall of Fame has recognized and subsequently honoured more than 30 significant sporting individuals, including Olympic medalists, premier professional athletes, award-winning coaches and builders, and an elite high school team. The Hall is a volunteer, not-for-profit organization dedicated to honouring Oakville's hometown heroes and fundraising to encourage the development of the town's future sports stars. The Gala Induction dinner begins at 6 p.m. with a reception, followed by the dinner itself at 7 p.m. The Oakville Conference and Banquet Centre is located at the corner of Wyecroft and Bronte Rd., south of the QEW.
