The advanced diesel BlueTEC technology is standard for the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter's 3.0-litre, clean-burning BlueTEC V6 turbodiesel engine harnesses 188 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque at 1,400­2,400 rpm. The Sprinter is equipped with a five-speed automatic transmission that offers maximum smoothness, well-spaced ratios, and excellent fuel economy. The rear-wheel-drive chassis is engineered to cope with large payload variations while offering neutral steering and excellent handling. Transverse leaf springs made of fibreglass-reinforced plastic are used at the front, and in the rear parabolic springs are used. All Sprinter models come equipped with Electronic Stability Program known as ADAPTIVE ESP. This advanced system has been integrated with the anti-lock braking system (ABS), acceleration skid control (ASR), electronic brake force distribution (EBD), hydraulic Brake Assist (BAS) and ESP Trailer Stability Assist. In addition, an integrated Start-off Assist system prevents the vehicle from rolling downhill when the driver switches from the brake pedal to the accelerator on a hill start. The Sprinter has a towing capacity of 5,000 lbs (2,268 t.). Large rub panels on the sides also prevent minor bumps and grazes from causing expensive damage. Load restraints received close attention with sturdy loadsecuring rings and a steel bulkhead offered as standard equipment on the cargo van. A wooden load compartment floor, lashing rails in the wooden floor and further waistline and roof-level lashing rails are also available. Near vertical inner walls, levelled-off wheel arches, and the high payload allow the available cargo space to be used fully. Starting from $41,900 for the cab chassis, $42,900 for the cargo van, and $47,900 for the passenger van, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter models are aggressively positioned in their respective segment.
