On her new desk is the big job of raising $60 million in equipment for the new Oakville Hospital set to break ground in 2011. Triano is ready -- she's no stranger to such a challenge. "I've had sleepless nights. But a fearful energy is different than an excited energy and definitely, at this point, I have excited energy," said the northwest Oakville resident. "I consider it a privilege to be raising money in my community for my community hospital." It's her job to inspire other Oakvillians to do the same, but she remains confident -- both because MICHAEL IVANIN / SPECIAL TO THE BEAVER READY: Tina Triano, chair of the Oakville Hospital Foundation, has a big job in front of her -- raising $60 million. of her own track record and ernment funds hospital because of what she knows of operations and 90 per cent Oakville and the importance of construction -- but none of the hospital to its residents. of the equipment. "We have to raise $60 million in a fairly short time frame. We wish to have all the equipment in place for the new hospital when it opens in five years," said Triano noting it's about 40,000 pieces of equipment. While the official launch of the capital campaign will likely coincide with the 2011 hospital groundbreaking, Triano said she would love to hear from anyone considering donating, large or small. "The campaign is already underway, we're in our quiet phase," said Triano, explaining the Foundation is also actively seeking leadership donors -- those who will make very substantial donations, usually achieved over a period of years. Already in place is one such pledge from The Auxiliary to the Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH), which has committed to raising $3 million for equipment at the new hospital.
