Kent Michael Roy, 48, is facing multiple fraud related charges in connection with the theft of $1 million from the company. Roy, whose company is headquartered at 3239 Dundas St., W., was arrested by Halton police Thursday after GE's audit team discovered several suspicious transactions during a routine internal audit. This discovery led to an investigation, which found that through a series of false invoices and billings the company had been defrauded of approximately $1 million over 10 years. Roy, who is a chartered accountant and a certified public accountant, has been charged with five counts of fraud over $5,000 and two counts of uttering a forged document. GE Water & Process Technologies is a global leader in the supply of water purification, wastewater treatment and process systems. The company had been known as Zenon until 2006 when it was bought out by GE for $760 million. GE Water conducts extensive non-profit work with its Water for Humanity program shipping and installing water treatment systems for communities in need in such places as Bear Island, Canada, Qhang Dien District, Vietnam, and Tzaneen, South Africa. Oakville resident Shelagh (Foster) McGrogan has shared a grand adventure of patriotism and wonder with her son -- and he is not expected to be born for a few more months. The Oakville Trafalgar High School (OTHS) graduate, honour student and athlete of the year is now 42 and six months pregnant. On Halloween night, she carried the Olympic torch -- in Nanaimo, British Columbia. "Carrying the torch was a truly incredible experience ... I feel honoured and privileged to have been able to be a part of such an historic event. While the run only lasted one minute, the memories will last a lifetime," said McGrogan.
