E. An opening reception will be held Sept. 12 from 2 to 5 p.m. Surprenant was born in the United States. She earned a bachelor of fine arts from the University of New Hampshire and also studied at Queen's University in New York. She moved to Canada in 1981 to become a member of a Catholic community, where she resided as a full-time painter. Surprenant, sadly, passed away from cancer earlier this year.
