OAKVILLE BEAVER Wednesday, September 9, 2009 · 12 Gear up for Cycle for Autism At Bronte Creek Provincial Park on Sept. 19 The ninth annual Cycle for Autism will be held on Saturday, Sept. 19 at Bronte Creek Provincial Park. Besides the fun and activity of cycling, there will be prizes for top fundraisers. The activities will include a Gamer Doc Van, dunk tank, bouncy slide, gladiator, raffle, 50/50 draw and barbecue. Local fire, police and EMS will be on hand to show support and the community is invited to join in, too. Registration begins at noon with a ribbon cutting to start the ride at 1 p.m. Pledge sheets can be obtained at www.autismhaltoncycle.com. All proceeds go to organize and deliver programs and support services to local families raising children with autism spectrum disorders. These programs give these children the opportunity to learn social skills, reading comprehension skills, the chance to participate in March Break and summer camps and essential early intervention. Bronte Creek Provincial Park is located on Burloak Drive, north of the QEW. Show a pledge sheet at the gate for free park admission. The Halton Chapter of Autism Ontario is one of 30 volunteer-based community chapters striving to increase public awareness about autism. This network of skilled and informed volunteers provides support to families through programming as well as community, policy and educational support.
