Conservation Halton (CH) has reported that its watershed, which includes Oakville, received more than one-and-a-half times the average July rainfall, with 121 mm of precipitation. A typical rainfall for that month is 76 mm. The rain received from May to July was about 119 per cent of the normal threemonth average for that time, CH reported. "Interestingly, the watershed was actually somewhat dry from late June until mid July, which could have been of some concern had those conditions continued," said Watershed planner David Gale. As a result of the rain, Sixteen Mile Creek remains higher than normal. CH spokesperson Hassaan Basit said despite the wetter-than-usual summer, residents are still encouraged to practice water conservation. CH monitors local water level and precipitation amounts together with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources.
