OAKVILLE BEAVER Friday, June 26, 2009 · 14 Special Care For Seniors Providing exceptional quality care both inside & outside the home. Canada Day fireworks and entertainment in Bronte Bronte Village's Heritage Waterfront Park is the place to be this Canada Day. The July 1 celebrations will run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and feature free admission, concerts, food and fun for kids of all ages -- as well as fireworks. Residents are asked to leave their car at home if they can as they head to the party. There will be restrictions and road closures south of Marine Drive in effect for everyone's safety, so those who drive to the area are asked to be patient. Bring lawn chairs, hats, sunscreen, kids and strollers and enjoy the summer weather lakeside while sampling food from participating restaurants at old-fashioned prices. A beer'n' burger garden in the park will be hosted by the Kinsmen Club of Oakville. For a small donation to good works, early birds can kick off the day at 8 a.m. with the annual Oakville Trafalgar Lions Club pancake breakfast on Bronte Rd. just south of Marine Drive. There will be a vendor's bazaar and artist's row featuring the works of noted Bronte artists and photographers. Between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. there will be lots of free activities for kids. There will be face-painting. There will also be bouncing castles and slides at a nominal charge. This harbourside Canada Day Festival in Oakville boasts a lineup of entertainment that includes 18 acts featuring nearly 50 talented Canadian performers offering a diverse range of award-winning, quality entertainment on three different stages -- Boardwalk Stage (Bronte Road, south of Lakeshore Road), Gazebo Stage (Bronte Waterfront Heritage Park) and Centriller Square Stage (east of Lakeshore Road West). Mayor Rob Burton has been invited to ask attendees to join the headliner in singing O Canada leading into the fireworks show off Bronte Pier.
