OAKVILLE BEAVER Wednesday, June 24, 2009 · 24 Art show at Sovereign House An Alright day An art show featuring the work of Bernadette Oppenheim Duzyk and Connie James will run July 4 to 15 at Sovereign House, 7 West St. in Bronte. The show is open to the public Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday from 1 to 4 p.m. The opening reception will be held Saturday, July 4 starting at 1 p.m. The show is part of the Art on the Bluffs series at the historic house. Both women are Oakville artists. James' artwork has the theme Journey Beneath the Surface and will feature a collage and multimedia. Duzyk, a recent finalist for the Oakville Arts Council's Stars Among Us awards, will exhibit some of her Chinese brush paintings. She will be conducting demonstrations and will be giving the public a chance to participate using traditional rice paper, inks and oriental brushes at the opening reception. Classy show with jazz singer Oakville resident Judith Lander and Nancy White are doing a cabaret show together Tuesday, June 30 at 8 p.m. at the Old Mill, 21 Old Mill Rd. in Etobicoke as part of the TD Canada Toronto Jazz Festival cabaret series.
