Oakville Galleries receives $37,200 from government Oakville Galleries has received a $37,200 financial boost thanks to the federal government. The money came from the Ministry of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages and will support a digitization project to improve collections management at Oakville Galleries. This two-part project will both improve the documentation of collections and develop an extensive online database. Established in 1980, Oakville Galleries is an amalgamation of Centennial Gallery and Gairloch Gallery. "With its excellent programming and high-quality exhibitions, Oakville Galleries makes a valuable contribution to the cultural vitality of this region," said James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages. Terence Young, Member of Parliament said the galleries contribute to Oakville's cultural scene and are worthy recipients. "I am proud that our Government is supporting local initiatives like this one," said Young. "My own family has a history with the arts community, so I am pleased that our Government is supporting Oakville Galleries ­ an organization that is central to Oakville's cultural identity."
