On Saturday evening last about ten o'clock, Rud Mathews was on his return, it is said, after seeing his girl home in the village, and when near Trimble's store, he was startled by a pistol shot, the bullett grazing his head: Whether it was an accident or done maliciously through jealousy is not known, neither is there any suspicion as to who did it.
