Have you not taught them that it is thoughtless and dangerous to leave broken glass where people and dogs are walking? My dog has never littered, although he has picked up his share of water bottles, coffee cups, dirty diapers, and even a knife. My dog has never spray painted foul language on a bridge overpass, or thrown a computer in the creek. He's never set a fire on a bridge that actually burned the wood, making the bridge impassable, or broken a bottle, with a garbage can two feet to the left. Most dog owners, like most parents, take their responsibilities seriously. Most dog owners, when approaching someone who is uncomfortable around dogs, will ensure their dog does not approach. So to the cranky, dog-hating, intolerant people in Oakville: next time you see me walking my dog, try to disguise your disgust. Why not focus on the people who have no respect for the environment? They are the real problem. We're just trying to enjoy a walk with our dog. Frankly, I might find the sight of you offensive, but hey, we all have to live together.
