When you enter the YMCA of Oakville lobby, a friendly `Hello' might come from a volunteer at the front desk. When your children play basketball, a volunteer could be playing with them. When you take a yoga class, the instructor might be a volunteer. Volunteers in child care centres donate their time for the love of the children. Camp counsellors once could have been volunteer counsellors. Teens learn leadership skills while volunteering. United with the more than 23,000 YMCA volunteers across Canada, YMCA of Oakville volunteers choose to make their YMCA a better place and foster a caring community. Do you have a desire to encourage children and build their self-esteem? You could consider working with children at a summer camp or at a child care centre. Would you like to teach in a supportive environment? Consider leading a class for a few sessions, using your special skills and talents. Volunteers can contribute as little as one hour a week, or get involved just for a special event or short-term project. the house, share your talents and be appreciated for it! Some volunteers want to give back to their community as well as to feel a sense of purpose and satisfaction in doing something they love to do. The YMCA of Oakville provides such opportunities. Last year 459 volunteers contributed 15,098 hours... just over seven years, based on a 40-hour work week... to assist the YMCA of Oakville to inspire people, to create leaders and to enhance the health of Y members. Volunteers can be teens, retired individuals or those who want to experience personal growth or initiate positive change in our community. If done correctly, tremendous improvement is possible for every level of recreational athlete. 3:00 ­ 3:30 ­ Pre and Post Workout Nutrition Presentation ­ Proper fueling prior to, during and post workout will enhance sports performance. This presentation will enable you to understand the role nutrition plays in optimizing your training. If you are interested in attending a presentation please come at the scheduled time. Test demonstrations, speaking with the coaches and tours are available all day ­ from 10 am ­ 4 pm. Please drop in at your convenience.
