Rockford Castle, which has long been a prominent landmark of the Garafraxa Road, is now a desolate ruin. About midnight on Thursday last, fire was discovered in one of the upper rooms, and although Mr. Gibson and his wife had not yet retired, the flames spread with such rapidity that all they could do was to save their children, leaving their furniture to the devouring element. Nothing but the bare stone walls (or rather three of them, the front having fallen,) now remain of the hotel; while the stables, which were frame, were also destroyed. The premises was owned by Mr. S. J. Parker, and was insured for $1000, which will be about half the loss. Mr. M. Gibson, who occupied the house, lost all his furniture on which he had an insurance for $800.--O. S. Times.
