Their daughter, Elianna, is a Type 1 diabetic. She was diagnosed in September 2006 at only 13 months old after almost losing her life. This year, Elianna's Troops will host the third annual Poker Tournament for a Cure Fundraiser and Auction. The event will be held Friday, May 8 at 7:30 p.m., with poker beginning by 9 p.m. at the Galaxy 707 Banquet Hall at 475 North Service Rd. E. Tickets cost $50 to play in the tournament and $30 for non-players. There will also be a silent auction featuring trips, electronics, a barbecue, jewelery, cottage stays, sports tickets, memorabilia and more. Besides poker, there will also be a Wii tournament, complimentary buffet and cash bar. All proceeds will be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Team Elianna's Troops has participated in the Walk for a Cure for the last two years and has raised more than $14,000, collectively.
