Dogs are trained to lie down beside their partners during a seizure so when the client regains consciousness, he or she has a warm, reassuring presence as they regain their orientation. According to the trainers, some dogs can even detect a seizure five minutes to three hours before a client has it. Oakville Beaver photographer Nikki Wesley is chronicling the path that a dog goes through to become a working guide dog in multimedia presentations.
