A decorated veteran of World War II, serving in the RCAF, Alvin was a lifelong resident of Oakville, whose family history traced directly back to the Underground Railroad. An avid historian, he was well known for his presentations to school classes on the subject of the Underground Railroad and as a member of the Oakville Historical Society & Oakville Black History Society, he shared the results of his extensive research with the Oakville Museum.
