34 - The Oakville Beaver, Friday January 23, 2009 www.oakvillebeaver.com Cultural grants administered The Town of Oakville's Cultural Grants Review Committee has allocated $98,000 to 17 not-for-profit arts groups in Oakville. "There is a limited amount of funding and there is still an enormous need," said Robert Eagle, chair of the Cultural Grants Review Committee. "The benefits to the community are ever increasing from the cultural groups." The Cultural Grants program was established in 1989 and is administered by the Oakville Arts Council on behalf of the Town of Oakville. The grants are designed to enable notfor-profit cultural organizations, assisting their efforts to increase membership and community participation. With support from the Town and the Oakville Arts Council, committee members Bill Hewitt, David Newman and Maureen Latocki reviewed requests from 19 different Oakville-based groups seeking $207,000 in funding assistance.
