The Hornets had reached the title game with a 2-1 double-overtime victory over the Guelph Thunder in the semifinals. Ashlynn Brown was the hero for Oakville in that one, scoring the winner while the teams played three-on-three. Oakville finished first in preliminary-round play, posting two wins and a tie in its three games.
