The Raiders salted the game away in the late going with empty netters by Josh Ruys (his second goal of the game) and Patterson Ferell. "He's just very confident in the net and played great for us," Aquinas coach Chris Alderson said of Bailey, a Grade 11 student. "Night after night, he comes to perform. He's saved our butts on several occasions." Blakelock captain Keenan Randall credited Bailey for having a good game, but felt the Tigers made it easy on the "When we've got Aquinas goalie as well. I Randall added that, don't doubt that." despite Blakelock's struggles the past week (the Blakelock coach Tigers also lost 4-2 Friday Ken Butler to the Loyola Hawks), he's still confident in his team. His coach felt the same way. "When we've got it going like we did before the Christmas break, we're definitely the team to beat," Butler said. "I still believe we're the strongest team in the division. I don't doubt that." Blakelock was a Halton finalist in 2006 and 2007, losing the title game both times to Burlington's Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The Raiders, meanwhile, now believe even more that they are also in contention for a Halton title. Aquinas (7-3-1) moved ahead of the Iroquois Ridge Trailblazers for second in the Richardson Tier 1 Division, although the Trailblazers had an opportunity to leapfrog back ahead when they played the Oakville Trafalgar Red Devils yesterday (Tuesday). "I think we've been believing since before the break that we had something good going here," said Alderson. "This sort of reinforces the fact that we are the real deal." Calvin Reynolds scored the Raiders' other goal. The Oakville peewee A Rangers will compete for a North American Silver Stick title later this month in Michigan.
