www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Friday January 9, 2009 - 7 LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Regional workers to the rescue Plan ahead and avoid parking ticket Continued from page 6 diately called the plumber and they said they would be here the next day, Imagine my surprise when I got a message from the plant superintendent, Mike Dilorio that his crew would also be here Wednesday morning to check the lines on the street. I will never again grumble about my taxes. Alvin, Charles, Karrie and Rob are to be highly commended for staying the course in the cold and doing their job cheerfully. I have only the highest praise for this arm of our Region of Halton and for the young man from Groves Sewer Services. Between their perseverance and knowledge of our sewer system they got back the ring I cherished the most. The ring was a Christmas present from my husband and son in 1973 and I received it on the Christmas Day, which I celebrated with my Slovak parents as a child. With great admiration, ANNE DUFF I am in full agreement with Doug Fraser. (Take the cab in the first place, Oakville Beaver, Jan. 7). In reading the many letters you have published in support of those whose cars were either ticketed or towed, I can only come to the conclusion that their writers drove their cars to a watering hole with the intention of drinking. While it is encouraging that these unfortunates made the correct decision to not drive home intoxicated, I cannot empathize with them further. Residents of Oakville or Toronto know that there are parking restrictions. Residents of Oakville or Toronto should also know that, if drinking is planned, transportation should also be planned. As Mr. Fraser pointed out, the cost of a round-trip cab ride is much less than the cost of freeing an impounded vehicle. Planning ahead is a skill that we need to develop further, either in terms of drinking and driving or taking care of our environment. Let's use our brains to our advantage.
