Created by ABC CANADA Literacy Foundation in 1999, Family Literacy Day is a national initiative that promotes the importance of reading and learning together as a family. This year the Oakville Public Library is celebrating by running an online `Picture Yourself Reading' photo contest. To raise awareness of this special day and the importance of family literacy, we are asking you to submit photos online showing your family literacy activities. There are six digital photo frames to be won if your name is picked, that is one from each of our branches. The six winning names will be chosen by a random draw on Family Literacy Day, Jan. 27 and winning photos will appear on our website in February. The photos submitted should A Your family can take part in one of our scheduled children's programs, pop into your local branch and grab a Storytelling Kit to take home or visit one of our eight Book Nooks located within the community. No library card is required for Book Nooks and lending works on the honour system. It will be at 6 p.m. and will kick off a series of volunteer training dates.
