Police said the incident took place shortly before 9 p.m. when the two male boarders, aged 16 and 20, heard someone at the front door of an Ario Road home. When the boarders failed to answer the door, the suspect went behind the house and entered the home through a rear door. Police said the suspect was rummaging around in one boarder's personal belongings when he was confronted and an altercation ensued. "They engaged in a physical fight. The accused had a knife and proceeded to stab them," said Sgt. Brian Carr, Halton Regional Police public affairs officer. Carr said the boarders were acquainted with their attacker, who fled the area after the stabbing. Halton police said they were called to the home shortly after 9 p.m. where they discovered the two wounded boarders. The boarders were transported to St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto where they are currently listed in stable condition. Moments after the boarders were found, police arrested a 16-year-old Oakville boy at his residence on Pinehurst Drive following a brief standoff. The suspect, whose name cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault, one count of robbery and possession of dangerous weapons. Now being treated as a crime scene, the home where the crime took place is empty, roped off with yellow police tape with an officer in an unmarked cruiser keeping watch outside. The quiet scene is a stark contrast to what neighbours saw Thursday night, describing a chaotic street filled with the whirling red lights of police cruisers, ambulances and even a fire truck that rushed to the scene. "I was across the street standing with the other neighbours when they wheeled the one guy out on a gurney to the ambulance," said one woman. "A few minutes later, they brought the other one out."
