Fell was recently named the Ontario Competitive Trail Riding Association's top junior and rookie of the year, becoming the first junior in OCTRA history to win rookie-of-the-year honours. She participated in a number of events across Ontario during the 2008 season, traveling as far as Pennsylvania to compete. Trail riding races are 50 miles long and are run in stages of 12-13 miles each, with scoring based on total elapsed riding time minus time penalties. Fell completed 280 race miles this past season atop Redneck, a 14-year-old quarter horse gelding. MILTON -- The Halton elementary school Tier 2 boys' volleyball final pretty much summed up the W.H. Morden Seahawks' season. After a slow start to both their year and Wednesday's final, the team came together. The result was the school's first volleyball pennant in 21 years. The Seahawks overcame a 10-4 deficit in the opening set against Burlington's C.R. Beaudoin to pull out a 25-23 victory Wednesday at E.C. Drury High School. From there, they cruised to a 25-11 win to seal the title. "We started practicing pretty late, which is probably why we weren't in Tier 1," said Lesley Tough, who coaches the Morden squad with Richard McFeeters. "They grew as a team as the season progressed and they practiced really hard. They were really a hidden talent just ready to bust out." The Seahawks had no shortage of attack options up front with Asad Bahram, Adam Luxton, Majot Sanjha and Omar Chung all being capable hitters. But the attack wasn't quite executing to its potential early in the final as Morden fell behind. "I think they got extremely nervous," Tough said. "They had never been in a real pressure situation like this, but, to see them come together in the end, I'm really proud of them." Morden lost only one set at the Tier 2 tournament. In the semifinals, Morden again saved its best for last, taking seven of the last nine points for a 25-18 victory over the Chris Hadfield Hawks. Burlington's Charles R.
