Regional council passed a motion Wednesday to advise the minister of energy and infrastructure and the minister of municipal affairs and housing that the plan won't be ready by the June 16, 2009 deadline prescribed by the Places to Grow Act, but rather six months later than that. Halton staff say the extra time is needed for a variety of reasons, including more studies. Sustainable Halton is being created to steer the growth called for in the Province's Places to Grow plan while preserving and protecting greenspace and farmland. It'll also help develop the Region's next Official Plan.
