[excerpt of article, resolution of condolence]

Resolution of Condolence:

Resolved, That this Council, at this, its first opportunity, desire to express their heartfelt sorrow at the sudden and unexpected death of your husband. Hi general urbanity and integrity, pertaining to matters of the Township, make us feel that the Township has suffered a very great loss, and the institutions therein a firm and constant friend. This inscrutable providence leaves us only the privilege to tender you our warmest sympathy in your severe loss.; and we earnestly recommend to you the care of the Husband of the widow and Father of the fatherless, who will most assuredly support and guide you in this your sore affliction if you lean on his arm for wisdom and strength.
