Kids can bring their "sick" teddy for an extra special consult at the Teddy Bear Hospital hosted by Halton Healthcare Services (HHS). In an initiative set to put `white coat' fears at bay, teddy bear doctors will be available at the kickoff event to provide sick or injured teddy bears a full examination and prescribe "pawscriptions" for any teddy ailments. The teddy bear hospital is designed to help children overcome anxiety about visiting the hospital and talking with the doctor. The patients are the child's teddy bear or favourite toy, which has a medical condition of the child's choice. The doctors are staff and volunteers at HHS hospitals. The examination and simple noninvasive treatment are done on the teddy bear, not the child. Unfortunately, due to limited time constraints, teddy bear doctors cannot treat any ripped or broken teddy bears.
