Yesterday morning soon after four of the clock, the streets of Markdale were alive with people humourously enquiring one of the other, Hulloa! what bring you out? However the cause of the excitement and the flutter among the ladies of the village was not hard to find, for although it had been kept pretty quiet, the secret had oozed out that on Wednesday at five in the morning at the English church, Miss Douglas was the be handed to Mr. Wm. N. Haskett, for better, for worse, &c., and to witness this ever interesting ceremony, some 150 people, mostly of the fair sex, congregated at the church.

The bridegroom and the groomsmen - Messrs A. Turner and G. Haskett - were at theri posts a few minutes before the appointed time, and very soon after five the bride, leaning upon her father's arm and followed by the bridesmaids - Miss Maggie Douglas & Miss purvis. The bride's dress was of India cream muslin and cream satin, trimmed with cream spanish lace. She wore a tulle veil and a wreath of orange blossoms. Gloves to match. Her maid's dresses were of India muslin and cream corded silk, trimmed with spanish lace.

At the reading desk the bride was met by the bride grooom, and the bridal party walked to the communion rails Rev. J. Ward awaited them and there in a very short time the ceremony was gone through. After the singing of a hymn, they retired to the vestry, where Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Haskett, were made and registered man and wife. During the intervals appropriate music was played on the organ by Miss Ford.

The Church Decorations were supplemented by several beautiful flowering plants, giving the edifice quite a lively appearance.

After the service, the party made their way to the house of the father of the bride, where breakfast was awaiting them.

At the station quite a crowd congregated to bid good-bye to the pair, who set out on a tour up the St. Lawrence, thence they will proceed to New York and thence up the Hudson river to Albion, and from that place return to Markdale. They bear with them wherever they go the best wishes for their future happiness of a very large circle of friends.
