The event, which will run from 7-11 p.m., is to promote accessible boating and provide a barrierfree and fully-accessible charter boat service. The cruise will run out of the Downtown Oakville Harbour and the Navy Street pier. It will kick off with precruise treats on the pier. The cruise on Lake Ontario will feature a live band and food. Volunteers sought The Canadian Cancer Society Oakville Unit needs volunteers for its 2008 Taking Steps Against Breast Cancer fundraising campaign. Taking Steps Against Breast Cancer is a leisurely, 5-km, non-competitive, fundraising walk (plus a 1-km Family Fun Walk). Thanks to support of site sponsor Oakville Place, the Oakville event is held indoors at the mall, so there's no worry about the weather. This year's event is set to take place on Sunday, Oct. 26. Volunteers are needed to help with administrative tasks, event promotion, participant recruitment, sponsorship, logistics, entertainment and event day execution.
