The group, which called itself the OAK Swim Fans, combined to raise more than $33,000 towards the cause. In total, the event's 2,850 participants raised $14 million in support of general cancer research at Princess Margaret Hospital. In order to ride in the event, each participant had to raise a minimum of $2,500 in pledges. Riders benefited from reasonable temperatures and little precipitation as they enjoyed the scenery through escarpment country and the vineyards of Niagara.
