26 - The Oakville Beaver, Friday July 4, 2008 www.oakvillebeaver.com HELPING OUT: Three nine-year-old Grade 3 Holy Family School students -- Adam Grace, left, Daniel Kelly and Aidan Kenny -- organized a birthday party, and instead of receiving gifts, they asked people to donate to the Rebecca Run in support of research into a cure for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). They and their classmates then enjoyed a pool party and contributed to a good cause just as school wrapped up for another year. The trio raised more than $500 to hand over to the Rebecca Run, which takes place July 5. Pizza Pizza donated the pizzas for the party free of charge. This year, the late Max Yorke Vallender of Oakville is the Rebecca Run honouree. Max was born on July 16, 2006 and passed away on Aug. 29, 2006. Most infants diagnosed with SMA have a life expectancy of under two years. For Rebecca and Max MICHAEL IVANIN / OAKVILLE BEAVER
