Program and accommodation review processes are in full swing for the schools of the Halton District School Board in Oakville, leaving no shortage of controversy and anger in their wake. From lawn signs, letter-writing campaigns, new groups, websites, even newspaper advertising, parents are mobilizing across town. In Ward 3, a report by those conducting the program and accommodation review has been prepared concerning the future of area schools. On Wednesday, June 18, the school board's trustees will examine the recommendations in that report. At the heart of the matter is what schools could remain open and which could close. Meanwhile in Ward 5, trustees have approved a number of actions, which included the directing of English track students from Lorne Skuce and Munn's public schools to Montclair Public School, while French track students have been directed to Munn's and Sunningdale public schools. "We have more schools than we need," said Steven Parfeniuk, Superintendent of Business, Halton District School Board.
