www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Friday May 30, 2008 - 35 Youth photo Movies in the Park show to open The Towne Square Gallery in Oakville will be hosting an exhibit of photographs taken by Halton youths as part of the Seeing Our Voices project that has been organized by the Our Kids Network. The exhibit runs from June 3 to 8 with an official reception to celebrate the project taking place at the Towne Square Gallery, 94 George St. on June 5 from 5 to 10 p.m. The exhibit showcases the work of 20 youths who participated in the Seeing Our Voices project. In order to better understand issues that youths face, the Our Kids Network brought together a range of youths to record and reflect on aspects of their life and important issues in their community by using a camera to capture their thoughts. "It is important to work with youths to address issues that concern them and the Seeing Our Voices project provided Halton youths with a creative way to highlight the things that matter to them," said Mary Beth Jonz, a member of the Our Kids Network and director of children's services for Halton region.
