Oh sure, the typical signs of spring are bursting alive outdoors but for fur coat wearers, the season marks the annual exodus from the closet at home to the storage vault at Barrington's. Before safely stowing this cherished investment in cold storage units until the cold weather returns, Paul Barrington recommends cleaning a fur coat every three or four years and more often if it is one that is worn frequently. Barrington's places furs in optimal vault settings that are climate controlled at a constant temperature of 10 Celsius and 50 per cent humidity, which is an ideal combination for protecting a fur's natural oils and its skin's suppleness, said Barrington. Spring at the well established landmark business on Lakeshore Road is also marked with a new array of stylish designer outerwear. Colour is unabashed this year with bright shades that are sure to turn any rainy day into a cheerful reason to don that new coat and head out on the town despite the downpour. Some of the standout coats include edgy Canadian designer Hilary Radley, ever hip and modern Andrew Marc, straightforward with a hint of humour Michael Kors, Feyem of Italy, which ably upholds his country's reputation for fine craftsmanship, and signature designers Burberry and Porto Moro. Each of these eye-catching coats finds its accessorizing mate in Barrington's conversation piece-worthy handbags. Sought after style icons such as the classic and iconic Burberry, the polished sleekness of Michael Kors, the elegant simplicity of Kate Spade, the chic sophistication of Andrew Marc and Oakville's own Karen Wilson's limited edition unique fabrics and colors all artfully line the shelves at Barrington's quietly beckoning admirers to touch, hold and open them. With an irresistible lineup such as this, and more, little wonder that Barrington's has been in a fine outerwear and accessory destination for more than five decades.
