14 - The Oakville Beaver, Friday May 9, 2008 PATIO AND DECK COVERS · CARPORTS · SUNROOMS · SPA & POOL ENCLOSURES www.oakvillebeaver.com Life of Water opens Monday at Oakville Place A dramatic, insightful and reflective photographic exhibition entitled Life of Water opens at Oakville Place, Centre Court, on Monday, May 12 and continues through Sunday, May 25. Depicting 100 photographic interpretations of Canadians' relationship to one of this planet's most vital resources, fresh water, the exhibition is open to the public, free of charge, and can be viewed during Oakville Place's regular business hours. "This is a powerful exhibit and we are pleased to be able to present it at Oakville Place," said Kim LaRonde, marketing director, Oakville Place. "Awareness is the first step in social change. It is often a very humbling experience and it challenges us all to look for alternative ways of living our lives in order to make positive changes." The Life of Water exhibition is the work of not one, but 100 distinguished Canadian photographers. Each are volunteer contributors to PhotoSensitive, a non-profit enterprise focused on promoting social awareness, enlightenment and change through black and white photography. Based on a seemingly simple assignment, to interpret the `life of water' through black-and-white photography, the outcome is an exhibition of complex, comprehensive and compelling perspectives. Focusing the lens on industry and agriculture, transportation and art, weather, power generation, nourishment, competitive sports and casual recreation, Life of Water shows us how we live with water and implicitly asks "How could we live without it?" Oakville Place Shopping Centre is located at the Trafalgar Road exit on the Q.E.W., 25 minutes west of downtown Toronto and convenient to the Oakville GO station.
