NOTICE OF PERMANENT QEW RAMP CLOSURE Westbound QEW Exit Ramp to the South Service Road Starting the week of April 21, 2008 To facilitate improvements to the QEW, the existing South Service Road exit ramp and overpass from the westbound QEW (west of Bronte Road) will be permanently closed commencing the week of April 21, 2008. The ramp overpass structure is tentatively scheduled to be demolished in early fall of this year. The removal of the exit ramp will permit highway widening and traffic detours to continue into the next stages of construction which includes the rehabilitation of the existing Bronte Creek bridge structure. The Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) is undertaking highway expansion work to provide High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes on the QEW through Oakville between Burloak Drive and Trafalgar Road. NOTICE OF INTENTION TO DESIGNATE 144 Bronte Road TAKE NOTICE that Oakville Town Council, on April 14, 2008 passed a Resolution of intent to designate the Lot 59 Plan M10, under Section 29 of the Ontario Heritage Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. 18, as they are of cultural heritage value and interest. Currently the structure is located at 144 Bronte Road, Oakville, legally described as Lot 59 Plan M10. The original structure was built in 1910 and is representative of the Edwardian style of architecture. In 1988 an addition was added to the rear of the building. The addition is not intended to be included in the designation. The structure was historically used as a Manse for Walton Memorial Church for over 50 years and was subsequently sold for use as a commercial property. The original brick house is a two storey square structure with a balanced façade complemented by a one storey Edwardian style verandah. The form of the structure is characterized by the hipped roof with hipped and gable type dormers and a front gable on a shallow bay. The exterior integrity of the Edwardian style architecture has been maintained notwithstanding the adaptive re-use of the building over time from residential to institutional and more recently to a commercial use. Any objection to this designation must be filed within 30 days of April 23, 2008 being the date of the publication of the notice of intention to designate, as published in this publication.
