36 - The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday March 26, 2008 www.oakvillebeaver.com Poetry with a Conscience returns April 6 Once again, poets from the Oakville area will be reading their own works in a series of outstanding poetry events in celebration of Poetry Month. In the first event, Poetry with a Conscience, the 13 participating poets include: Judy Blenkinsopp, Andrea Clasen-Konkin, Lynsay Daniel, Trisha deSouza, Elka Ruth Enola, Ernie Enola, Yaqoob Ghaznav, Bev Heilbron, Ray Long, Mayur Patel, Evelyn Quist, Sheila Tucker, Jovan Vuksanovich. Some of the poets are well known to poetry aficionados in Oakville and others are reading in public for the very first time. Some of the topics deal with the environment, commercialism, abuse, war, hope, oppression, feminism, racism, responsibility and jingoism. Following the reading of the registered poets, there will be open mic at the event when anyone can read for three minutes on an appropriate topic.
