This year, organizers will turn off the lights and serve dessert by candlelight for Earth Hour at 8 p.m. The event will feature Afghan food and speaker will be Verna Andrews, of the Canadian Landmine Foundation. Money raised last year supported landmine clearance in Bosnia. This year, it will be used to train mine detection dogs in honour of five extraordinary Canadians. Tickets cost $15 for adults and are available through Munn's church office at 905-257-8434. www.oakvillebeaver.com
